Married for 28 years and the proud father of three wonderful children, Gary is deeply rooted in faith, family, and service. He graduated from Pacific University, coached college basketball in Wisconsin, lived abroad in the United Kingdom, and pastored a church for nearly two decades.
Today, as Director of Tacoma Pierce County Chaplaincy, he has the privilege of supporting more than 3,500 first responders while providing care to individuals and families facing life-and-death crises throughout the community. He considers this work a profound honor and calling.
A cancer survivor and survivor of a fatal car crash, Gary’s perspective has been shaped by both suffering and grace, strengthening his faith in Jesus Christ and deepening his compassion for others.
He remains passionate about community involvement, serving those in need, coaching youth athletics, and encouraging others to live with identity, purpose, hope, and faith. He seeks to live each day with intention and vision, believing that while our time is short, yet our God-given purpose is mighty.
The Kiwanis Club of Puyallup invites community members, civic leaders, business professionals, and families to attend the Annual Prayer Breakfast on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Bethany Baptist Church in Puyallup. Doors open at 7:00am, breakfast begins at 7:15am.
This longstanding tradition brings our community together in a spirit of unity, gratitude, and reflection. The morning will feature a warm breakfast, meaningful fellowship, and an inspiring program centered on faith, service, and leadership with our special guest speaker.
The Puyallup Kiwanis Annual Prayer Breakfast serves as a reminder of the values that strengthen our community — compassion, integrity, service above self, and commitment to one another. It is an opportunity to pause from our daily responsibilities and gather with families, neighbors, educators, first responders, business owners, elected officials, and nonprofit leaders to reflect on the shared purpose that connects us.
Whether you are a longtime Kiwanis supporter or attending for the first time, this event offers a welcoming space to connect, build relationships, and celebrate the enduring spirit of Puyallup. We look forward to gathering together for a meaningful morning of fellowship and encouragement.

The trend of making a charitable donation as a gift doesn’t seem to be losing steam. It’s no longer unusual to receive invitations to birthdays, weddings, graduations and other special events—with requests for donations to favorite charities in lieu of traditional gifts.
If you would like to support our mission in helping the children of Puyallup and surrounding areas, please feel free to donate to the Puyallup Kiwanis Foundation for a tax deductable donation.
We meet weekly and would like invite you to look around our website and better yet, join us for lunch! Come see for yourself what we're all about, volunteering to make a difference..one child and one community at a time.
By working together, members achieve what one person cannot accomplish alone. When you give a child the chance to learn, experience, dream, grow, succeed and thrive, great things happen.
Kiwanis clubs focus on changing the world by serving children, one child and one community at a time. To do this, many clubs also sponsor a Kiwanis family club—K-Kids for primary school children; Builders Clubs for adolescents; Key Clubs for teens; CKI clubs for university students and Aktion Clubs for adults living with disabilities—to reach more people and have a greater service impact on their communities.
Never underestimate the Power of One.
